Sometime in the late 1990's I decided I wanted to find out what had happened to Arlene Francis. While watching the old black and white television game show, "What's My Line?" on the Game Show Network I was reminded of Ms. Francis elegance, charm, her beautiful gowns, and that sparkling diamond studded heart pendent that she wore around her neck. As a child I had imagined myself growing up and being like Ms. Francis.
I went to the internet to do my search and was very disappointed there seemed to be little to no information about her. After making a web site guest book entry pertinent to my quest for information concerning Ms. Francis, Susan Speckels and I entered each others lives. To make a long story short, for now, Susan and I ultimately met Arlene, her son, and enjoyed a trip to San Francisco to meet each other. With her son's, Peter Gabel, blessings, Susan and I became hostess and webmaster of the official Arlene Francis web site. What a thrill that was for the both of us.Unfortunately when we met Arlen e she was well into her Alzheimer's journey. Even though she was non-verbal and confined to a wheelchair, she still had that twinkle in her eye and soft skin that defied her age.
Almost one year to the date when Susan and I were honored to meet Arlene, she passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's. It was astounding the number of fans that wrote special memorials to her in the site's guest book since she had been out of the public's eye for close to a decade. It was obvious her life had made a major impact on the entertainment industry and news media. She was truly a pioneer for all women.
Life has happened to both Susan and I since establishing Arlene's web site. Due to circumstances beyond the control of either of us the site is no longer accessible on the web.
Thus the reason for including a section of this web site in tribute to Arlene Francis. It will not be as extensive a tribute as her official site was, but there is more to come soon.
For those too young to remember Ms. Francis, or for a walk down memory lane for others, the following link is to a YouTube video in which you will meet both Arlene and her very young son at the time.

This was our logo for Arlene's web site. We were thrilled at the end product of our attempt to mimic her diamond studded heart pendant. Red was her favorite color.
